CDI Electronics Releases M.E.D.S. 7.0 to include MEFI CANBus Engines

Huntsville, AL, December 15, 2013 – CDI Electronics, the premier supplier of replacement ignition components has released a new version of its Marine Engine Diagnostic Software (“M.E.D.S.”) to include gasoline inboard engines engines controlled by the MEFI 4b, 5 and 6 controllers manufactured by Delphi Electronics. All later-model MEFI controllers utilize the CANBus protocol based on SAE Communications Standard J1939 and the NMEA 2000 CANBus Standard.  M.E.D.S. 7.0 now includes the capability to diagnose later-model MEFI-based engines manufactured by Indmar, Ilmor, Crusader, Pleasurecraft Marine, Flagship Marine, Marine Power, Panther Airboats and Kodiak Marine. M.E.D.S. already provides engine diagnostics for Mercury, Mercruiser, Yamaha, Yamaha PWC, BRP (Johnson/Evinrude), Suzuki and MEFI 1-4 inboard engines.

Thomas James, CDI sales manager explained: “With Release 7.0, M.E.D.S. now provides the independent marine technician with the capability to diagnose over 90% of the electronically controlled gasoline engines on the water today.  Its easy-to-learn user interface facilitates the reading of all kinds of engine data, thereby eliminating the guess work in diagnosis and repair.  Now that repair work has become a larger portion of dealer revenue, M.E.D.S. 7.0 greatly increases the population of serviceable engines for all repair shops.”
